Congregation Sha’are Shalom
Religious School

A Community of S.M.I.L.E.S
Spiritual Moments, Inclusive Learning, Empowered Students

Together, as a community of learners we explore Judaism and all the wonderful aspects of living a Jewish life. We place a strong focus on mitzvot, holidays, rituals, Israel, and community. We learn through interactive activities, art, music, special events, family learning programs and more!

Small group foundational Hebrew lessons, Hebrew Through Movement and Tefillah (group prayer) also take place throughout our Sunday morning program. Additional Hebrew for 4th through 7th graders is scheduled in small groups on Sundays immediately following the regular school day. There is also a one-on-one virtual option, flexibly scheduled midweek to accommodate family needs.

Meet the Director

Jessica Wadler
Director of Education & Youth Activities

Jessica is a dedicated, lifelong educator. Before coming to Congregation Sha’are Shalom, Jessica built up over 20 years of experience working in a combination of both religious and secular education. In addition to her classroom experience, she has worked extensively with school teams as a mentor and trainer. Jessica holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Interpersonal and Organizational Communication, a Master of Arts in Teaching with a focus on inclusive classrooms, and a Post-Master’s Certificate in Educational Leadership and Administration.

Jessica believes every student should feel safe, respected, and engaged within their learning environment. She is committed to advocating for all learners as well as supporting the CSS teachers in creating meaningful Jewish experiences and opportunities of growth for our future generations of caring citizens.

Jessica’s children are a constant source of inspiration and she credits her grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles with instilling a lifelong devotion to both Judaism and education, as well as a commitment to equity and inclusion.

Jessica is always searching for new inspiration and creative additions for curriculum and programming. She welcomes feedback and values collaboration with the teaching staff, CSS staff, parents and congregation volunteers. Jessica truly cares for every student and their family and believes in creating S.M.I.L.E.S: Spiritual Moments, Inclusive Learning, and Empowered Students for our community.

Outside of synagogue, Jessica enjoys being with her family, watching the sunrise, snuggling with her dogs, listening (and singing along) to all types of music, selfies with animals, and naps!
